Associate Studio Director - New Technologies

Bio

Often called the ultimate bricoleur, Fred Wolflink has been helping artists make things for over 30 years. He has an MFA from the Studio for Interrelated Media at Massart where he worked at the boundaries between photography, printmaking, writing and conceptual art. He has also worked as a camera, projector, A-V, and computer repairman, and as a machinist fabricating parts for cameras, A-V, and robotics. He has been helping DMI students since its inception.

At MassArt he performs dual functions: (1) as Associate Studio Director in New Technologies he supports students and staff with laser cutting, analog & digital hand-made electronics, micro-controller programming, multimedia programming with Processing, Max, PureData and others, and assorted projected in mechatronics; (2) as faculty in SIM and DMI he teaches computer programming, electronics, introduction to prototyping & programming digital and time-based media for installations.

He has degrees from Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MFA) and University of Utah (BS), and has attended or received certificates form North Bennet Street School (camera repair), Lowell Institute (now-defunct continuing education program at MIT), RETS Electronics School (radio and television electronics), and others.
