In Design Studio, the second project assigned to us was to create an interactive experience of
mapping narrative in the movie Memento. The goal for my project was to create an interface
(website) to help new and return users learn about the character information in the movie
Memento.

concept:
I wanted to create a learning experience to help the user understand Memento. Being so
complex, I set out to simplify the interface by allowing the user to have easy navigation tools
and accessibility to the information. This would help users understand the movie by following
through the eyes of each character.
The color scenes (present) are told in reverse chronological order, while the black and white
scenes (past) are in chronological order. Director Christopher Nolan intends to confuse and
bewilder the audience by putting the viewer in the shoes of Leonard Shelby.

how it works:
The user would first come to a splash page which would give a breif overview explaining what
the movie is about. Once entering the main page the user will have options to view the movie in
full, present (color), and past (black & white) versions. You can then select to see a brief
overview of each character.
Through the selection of the highlighted character in this case (Leonard) more information will
be displayed. The user has the option to select character scenes, to go behind the scenes, and
type In any notes in the key points box. All the information on this page can be then saved and
downloaded into a pdf format.

conclusion:
This process allowed me to combine what I have learned in previous project by trusting my
instincts. This project also helped me embrace my process, understand the user, and on how to
deal with complex databases. I was pleased with the end result.
