After DMI

DMI prepares you for a lifelong commitment to learning and personal growth. You’ll leave the program, empowered by fresh work, skills, and experiences, ready for new opportunities as an educator, practitioner, entrepreneur, or some combination of all three.

Dancer and engineer Julia Griffey (MFA 2005), inspired by her final thesis project, founded Animocation to create interactive games that encourage learning through movement, socialization, and play. Her work can be found in zoos and children’s museums throughout the country. Julia is also an Associate Professor of Interactive Digital Media at Webster University in St. Louis, MO.

Designer Heather Shaw (MFA 2003) balances award winning work for clients like The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum with her work as a dedicated educator. She is an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Curry College in Milton, MA, a thesis advisor to DMI students, and education co-chair for the AIGA Boston chapter.

Designer, programmer, educator, and musician Colin Owens (MFA 2009) developed one of his thesis projects, ShapeMix, into a music making and sharing application for the iPad, while teaching various classes at DMI.
